I have not came across a good way to check the moisture under Plastic Mulch. The tensiometers have been execllent in the past, so has the old Probe. During the past drought, it was so bad that I found myself guessing . The most reliable way I found was to simply use a finger as close to the plant as possible and make a judgement from that. Another to check for moisture level is to monitor the Skin of the vegetables very close for its firmness.

Metal roof + rainbarrel + gravity = great water for the garden. We have three rainbarrels that really helped with the yard gardens this year. I'm so glad we installed them and it was so easy to do.
